Common McNairy County Septic Repairs

Cracked or Sunken Tank Lids

Concrete lids crack over time, especially older ones with rebar that's rusted. A failing lid is a safety hazard (people and pets can fall through) and lets surface water and debris into the tank. We replace with a new concrete lid or upgrade to a sealed plastic lid with a riser to grade.

Failed Baffles

Baffles are the internal walls that keep solids and scum from flowing out of the tank into the drain field. When a baffle cracks or falls off, solids start escaping — the start of drain field failure. Catching and replacing a baffle early saves the field.

Distribution Box Problems

The distribution box (D-box) splits the tank's outflow evenly across the drain field's laterals. Over time the D-box cracks, settles unevenly, or has its openings clogged. Result: some laterals get overloaded while others sit dry. We can usually clean and re-level a D-box; replacement when needed.

Riser Installation

If your tank lid is buried 18 inches under the yard, every service call starts with digging it up. We install plastic risers that bring the lid to grade — future pumpings and inspections are easy. Inexpensive upgrade with a long payback.

Pump Tank / Lift Station Issues

Some properties have an effluent pump that lifts the wastewater to a drain field higher than the tank. When the pump dies or the alarm starts sounding, that's an emergency — once the pump tank fills up, sewage backs up into the house. We repair or replace pumps fast.

Pipe Damage

Roots in the line between house and tank, a crushed pipe under a driveway, or a separation at a joint. We locate and repair.

How We Decide: Repair vs. Replace

If your tank is sound, the drain field is functioning, and the failure is a single component, repair is usually the right call. If the tank itself is cracked top-to-bottom, the drain field has truly failed (not just clogged), or the system is undersized for the home, replacement may make more sense in the long run. We tell you straight.

How We Price Repairs

Repairs are priced by the job after we look at what's failing. Some repairs are quick and cheap; others take a half-day. We give the price in writing before we start. See how our pricing works.
